Our Classes…
Wee Tots
(Paisley & Stirling)
Wee Tots is our dance program offered to dancers ages 3-6. Dance classes take place on Saturday mornings, and are 30 minutes in lenght. The Wee Tots program is split into two 12 Week sessions, which is the perfect opportunity for little ones to try out highland dance without the commitment of a full year. Session one runs from September to December. Session two runs from January to the second week in May.
In Wee Tots, dancers will learn basic steps and rhythms associated with highland dancing. Wee Tots is a recreational class. with costumes provided. Wee Tots will have the opportunity to participate in local community dance outs and club events like St. Andrews Night and our annual spring recital. Wee Tots can choose to participate in the full year of dance (Session one & two) if they are enjoying themselves, and new dancers are welcome to join all throughout the dance session.
Aberdeen
Aberdeen is our NEW Beginner class. Dancers generally range in age from 7 to 10 years old. These are the dancers that are brand new to our dance program but are older than our Wee Tots.
Classes are held once a week for 45 minutes. This class focuses on learning the first five dances. (Fling, Sword, Seann Truibhas, Lilt & Flora) Our instructors focus on building strong technique skills & musicality. For the 25/26 season, Aberdeen will be held on Thursdays 5:30pm-6:15pm.
Kirkcaldy
Kirkcaldy is our beginner dancers that have graduated from the Wee Tot Program. Kirckaldy classes are held once a week for 45 minutes. This class focuses on the first five dances. (Fling, Sword, Seann Truibhas, Lilt & Flora) Our instructors focus on building strong technique skills & musicality. These dancers may have the option to be competitive. For the 25/26 season Kirkcaldy will be held on Saturdays 10:30am-11:45am
Inverness
Inverness is our beginner dancers that have gained more experience and moved to the weeknight dancing program. Inverness classes are held once a week for 60 minutes. This class focuses on the first five dances. (Fling, Sword, Seann Truibhas, Lilt & Flora) This class focuses on building strong technique skills & musicality. for the 25/26 classes will be held on Wednesdays 5:30pm-6:30pm.
Glasgow
Glasgow is for older, more experienced dancers . Dancers continue to work on the first five dances, as well as learn new dances for exams & competition. Classes will be held once a week for 75 minutes. Instructors introduce more advanced movements, skills and dance technique. Competitive dancers in this group will be beginner or novice levels. For the 25/26 season, classes will be held on Thursdays 6:15pm-7:30pm.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh is for our advanced dancers with significant highland dance experience. Intermediate and Premier level dancers for competition will be in this group as well as dancers who are a minimum of gold level in their dance exam and starting their highland theory. Classes focus on building strength, and technical ability. New steps are being taught for exams and competitive levels. Classes are 90 minutes during the week. This class is for competitive dancers who have a solid technical background and are looking to develop their skills further to reach new personal goals. For the 25/26 season classes will be held on Wednesdays 6:30pm-8:00pm.
Technique
Technique classes are held on Saturdays for 75 minutes. Opened to Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh classes that focus on strength and technique for specifically for competitions.
Choreography
Our choreography classes are for our older dancers year round, and our younger dancers in the months of January to May. Choreography classes will be held on Saturdays once a month. Instructors focus on choreography dances used in club performances and competitions. Dancers must be able to commit to practices as it is not an individual endeavor. It is important to know that the dancers need to have the appropriate skill level and dedication to be successful in their choreography, if your dancer is interested in the choreography class please speak with our instructors.
September - December = Edinburgh & Glasgow - Saturday 12:30 - 2:00
January - May = Kirkaldy & Inverness - Saturday 11:15 - 12:00 :
January - May = Edinburgh & Glasgow - Saturday 1:15 - 2:45
Our Fees…
Our club has one set price for the full season. The season starts in September, with a 3 week break in December for Christmas holidays. Resumes second week of January and runs till middle of May with our year end annual recital.
Wee Tots: $150/Session. $300 for full year
45 Minutes: $325
60 Minutes: $375
75 Minutes: $425
90 Minutes: $475
Technique Class: $200
Choreography Class: TBD
**ADDITIONAL COSTS
Fundraising: Each family that is a part of PRSS must participate in two club fundraiser. The two fundraisers include The Grimshaw Legion Bingo (January) & The Ferns Greenhouse Flower Basket Fundraiser. Participating in these fundraisers help our little club offset fees for studio rental and teacher wages. There will be a $200 cheque deposit, and if your family meets the requirements for these two fundraisers, they will receive their deposit back!
Dance Exams: Annual dance examination prices are TBD as they are a set price by SDTA that follow the individual exams specific to each dancer.
Costume Deposit: Our club is lucky enough to provide costumes for choreography (Non- Recital Costumes) and even a traditional outfit. There is a deposit fee of $100. Once the costume is returned back in a good condition, money will be returned.
Summer Classes: Summer classes run for May + June for our competitive dancers. This is an additional cost that varies depending on how many classes a dancer attends.
Private/ Semi - Private: Lessons may be arranged as needed throughout the dance season. Cost for private lesson is $30/hour and the room rental fee.
Solo Choreography: Individual choreography’s have a set rate of $150 + rental fee. This fee includes four 1 hour private classes for dancer to learn their choreo, their musical piece adjusted to set length/tempo & written out notes for dancers to take home.
